RSPCA urges momentum in Harness Racing Australia decision

RSPCA Australia has today expressed disappointment at news the introduction of whip-free harness racing has been delayed due to issues in the design of the new safety device that will replace the whip.

The RSPCA urges Harness Racing Australia to maintain the momentum of its positive animal welfare improvements, and to remain focused on developing the new device as quickly as possible.

In the interim, the introduction of further restrictions on whip use and tough penalties for misuse is a positive step towards ending whip use completely.
