Thousands pad up for the Million Paws Walk

It’s that one day of the year when Australia’s pets rule.

The 2016 Million Paws Walk this Sunday, May 15th, is expected to attract over 37,000 pets and their humans in the biggest event in the RSPCA calendar.

Last year, owners and their pets raised over $2 million, by posting a fundraising page, sponsoring  a Walker and their pet, and through the sale of merchandise, to help to fund the RSPCA’s care for the thousands of animals who enter its shelters every year.

In Queensland alone, more than 25,000 people have already registered to participate in the Walk. Humans and their pets, which have included llamas, ponies and rabbits over the Walk’s 23 year history, will take to the streets and parks in the biggest animal-lovers’ gathering of the year.

The Walkers will collect in small country towns, regional centres and our big cities to play a crucial role in helping the RSPCA provide support for all creatures great and small throughout the year.

Supported by Hill’s Pet Nutrition, the major national sponsor of Million Paws Walk, the Walk encourages participants to raise funds by creating their own fundraising pages and through their social networks. Just one dollar for every pawprint would make a huge difference to the RSPCA’s ongoing fight against animal cruelty.

Online registrations are available at but humans can also register their pets on the day. Pet-deprived humans are always welcome.
